¡No quería!

Wow! It has been a really long time between postings... sorry people! :( Life has suddenly become busy, busy! Sept. 8 I began teaching Spanish I and II to a homeschooled group of middle/high schoolers. I have 4 kids in SI and 5 kids in SII. I was only teaching one class last year (for an hour and 15 min.) but now with two classes, I have to leave Tory from around 7:45-11:45am every Mon. and Wed.! Thankfully (God is so good!), my grandma is able to watch Tory during those mornings. :) It is so neat that Tory is able to know her great-grandparents! But anyway, now if there is free time, I'm usually grading or preparing the next classes! THEN, on top of that, :) I had decided to go to church once a week for a women's Bible study because I would still have a small group time and Tory would have the opportunity to play with other children and learn to interact more. But it ended up I am actually in the playroom that Tory is in during the Bible study time as a lead. So, I'm in charge of 15 two-year olds for 2 and a half hours every Tues.! Yeah! Didn't know it would be so hectic! :) I'm feeling a little more on my feet now, but that first day I left with a headache (and I rarely have a headache, so that just showed the stress of it all). Edwin also leads a small group of guy high schoolers on Wed. nights and I co-lead a small group of girl high schoolers on Thursday nights! So, there are my excuses for not blogging for so long! :) Well, the title IS fútbol, not Cristy's crazy life, so onto the action! For her birthday, Tory received, very appropriately, a pair of shin guards. Not just any shinguards, no.... PINK shinguards! So cute! Kent and Edwin used to coach 8 year old girls together, and he and his wife and girls gave us the shinguards, which is why they were so appropriate. :) And so adorable! Only problem is getting Tory to wear them! :) Oh, well. We did succeed one night, but as soon as we took a couple of pictures, they came flying off! :) Edwin has also been refereeing on Saturdays for what is called "Upwards Soccer" at our church. Tory and I went to see what all the commotion was about on one of those Saturdays; hence, the cute pictures. :) But, since it has taken me forever to blog, those days have come and gone and now Edwin is working, working, working! No time for fun with the kids on Saturday! Now it's all about the harvesting of the grapes! He works Tuesday - Sunday, 10 hour days. It'll only last a couple of months, though, and then he'll be back to normal 4 tens. So, that's a glimpse into some of the things going on over here.... hopefully it won't be another month before I blog again! :)

Birthday fun
We were able to celebrate Edwin's 34th and Tory's 2nd b-days on Friday. :) It was special to see so many friends there. It amazed me to see so many little ones running around. :) Ah, how life keeps moving and growing. :) If you can believe it, I prepared 20 little give away bags for little kids, and there were only 4 left over when it was all over and done! So, we had 16 little friends running all over the place! Thankfully, there was a LARGE, grassy area, sprinklers, and a playground area for them to have a ball in. We are so grateful for all the friends God has blessed us with!
Here's a video I got this morning of a sleepy Tory ready to hit a new day playing with all her exciting, new toys!

My sister, Lisa, sent Tory a card and some gifts. Tory was so enchanted by the card, it took some time before she would even consider opening the gifts! :)

The blessing of friends . . .
Tory and I have been able to hang out with a couple of good friends in the past two weeks.... one of those is Erica and Annie. Annie and Tory first started hanging out last year when Erica would watch Tory for me one or two times when my grandma couldn't. They formed a fast friendship. :) One story I have to tell happened last week at the park. We were having a BBQ with Edwin's Mexico group, meeting some missionaries. Tory and I were playing in the playground area when suddenly we see Annie and her family coming toward us. Well, Tory took off running towards Annie, yelling happily, arms outstretched. Until she hit the path between the grass. Yes, she tripped and fell flat. But she was so ready to get to Annie, she didn't care. She got up as soon as possible, no crying, and kept running until she met up with Annie! :)
Another friend she is getting to know is Claire. Sarah and Claire came over for dinner and after making sure Claire wasn't going to be taking any of Tory's toys home with her, she began to enjoy her. They played in the yard and ending up taking a bath together! :) So cute!
Tan lindas! :)

Headband silliness . . .
Some of you already saw these pictures, so sorry for the repeat, but some people I know don't use facebook as much as others (if at all) . . . . :) Tory is all about copying whatever I or others do. She also does a good share of leading, especially at the playground, but like any kid, she imitates well. :) She is talking a lot more. She has three little play fish she got at a birthday party last weekend that she can now not live without. So, at bed or naptime she always says, "Ishy?" (meaning fishies). I bring them to her and right away she says, "Tank u!" I'm also trying to get her to say, "No, thank you" when she doesn't want to do something, instead of the tantrum sounding, "uuuuuuuuuuu!" sound she can make. So it is really cute to hear her say in a begging tone, "No, tank u! No, tank u!" :) It is hard to then not give her her bath or leave the park. :) Another cute thing Edwin taught her is to give a high five and the "rock" - a balled fist to fist bump. When she is done doing that with "Da-da" she then says, "Mama?" and looks for me to also do them with me. :) That is how we finally got her to call me something. It is so neat to hear her call me something finally! :) Her other phrase is, "Deh di ti?" Which is "where is it?" - you can tell by the tone.... :) Then when we find whatever it is, she says, "Deh ti tis!" which is "There it is!" also known by the tone. :) Well, I still have to translate this, so I better stop. :) Enjoy the pics!
No tank u!" :)

Edwin, travels, and Tory (of course!)
I thought I'd share a quick story about Edwin's flight home from Mexico with the team a couple weeks ago... :) In case you didn't know, He was detained at their port of entry in Salt Lake City, and they took him to the "back room" for questioning.... who knows why?? He has all his papers in order. But anyway, they did. Asked him silly questions like, "What's your phone number?", and, "What color is your hair?" Then they said, "Ok, fine, you can go." Edwin was like, "Fine, where's my ticket?" They were like, "Ticket? What ticket?" and by the time they printed him out a new one, he had missed his flight! Thankfully, there was still another flight that evening, which only left an hour and a half later, so he didn't have to wait too long. And when he did get in, all bummed out from not being able to come back with the gang, he was welcomed by a crowd of about 10 people who had stayed behind from the first flight to welcome him home with cheers and banners that said, "Free Edwin!" on them. :) He was pumped about that. He also received about 25 text messages from the team as well, all saying, "Free Edwin!" :) It was cool and made the whole incident not be so bad. :) Plus he had me to welcome him home too, right? :) Also, I was able to capture these moments of Edwin playing with Tory today... so cute! :)

Arandas '08
All last week Edwin and a group of high schoolers from our church were in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico working a VBS during the day and reaching out to neighborhoods at night. :) Here are some pictures of the trip. I can tell that the group has become quite close, and that the time they had together in Mexico will begin a great work in their hearts to impact others around them, to glorify Jesus! :) The last two pictures of Tory are to show off the sandals her daddy brought back for her . . . she wanted to put them on as soon as she saw them! :)
