Portland for Mothers Day

Edwin discovered that one of our favorite shows would be in one of our favorite cities: Cirque du Solei in Portland, OR! We have only seen the show on TV and have memorized the music to Quidam, one of their many shows. Never would I have imagined an opportunity to actually see them in person would ever present itself. Anyway, Edwin looked into it, and was able to get some sweet deals on the tickets, so off we went!! :) It happened to fall close to Mothers Day too, which was a bonus. :) The girls did SOOO well on the trip. We stopped at an awesome park mid-way there in an old town and we liked it so much, we stopped there again on the way home.

We arrived Friday afternoon, just in time for the show. We could see the huge tent from the freeway way before we arrived. I was impressed by how every seating area had an AWESOME view of the show. The acts were all super cool and Natalia made quite the impression on our fellow viewers. The girl sitting next to me begged to hold her, and she also shared her Reeces Pieces with Tory. :) So sweet. I was disappointed by some crude jokes made by the clowns, which I thought were unnecessary, especially in a room crowded with children.

The next day we went to Portland's Saturday Market, where they had ALL SORTS of people. In one square, I saw food vendors, craft vendors, some guys break dancing, some homeless people smoking something, a preacher with a Bible and a microphone, a girl in a nice dress playing a harp, a couple guys selling hacky sacks, a man making balloon animals for kids, and a girl in tattered nylons playing the violin.
Proceeding to another square, Tory discovered a water fountain of sorts! We had a ton of fun. We had an artist make a cartoon of Tory and Natalia, too. We then headed back home, very satisfied with our little outing to the big city. :)

Mom and Dad Visit

Though they came up for a serious reason, it was still so good to see them! :) My parents were near Coeur d’Alene to help my grandpa as he recovered from a six-bypass heart surgery. I took the girls up to see them for about 5 days, and then they came down to where we live for about two weeks. During their visit, we went walking to the park alot, played a board game we love as a family, and celebrated my grandparent’s birthdays. Edwin, my dad, and my grandpa also did a lot of fixing up around the house! It was such a blessing to have them here! Tory is getting to where she understands goodbyes now, so it makes saying goodbye all that much harder!

Tory and Natalia
