Visitors and a Day at the Park

My cousin, Kent, his wife, Missy, and their son, Jackson, came to visit and help my grandparents fix up their house, since they are moving back to this area. Tory had a lot of fun with her cousin, as you can see! :) It was the first time she's had someone on the floor with her, playing. I was surprised to see her quickly scoot over to where he was playing and wanting to play with what he had. But thankfully, he was a good sport and didn't mind. Then, yesterday, Edwin took Tory and I to the park! :) We had a small picnic, then headed for all the fun stuff! She was fascinated with the sandbox, so we had a good bath that night!

Self-Feeding Attempt #1

Yesterday I was very excited when I found the utensil that helps babies begin to learn to feed themselves... large handle for gripping and both sides make food easy to pick up... that both sides is a good thing. So, I thought I'd try it out today. Tory took to the utensil quickly . . . as a new toy, still opening her mouth in expectation of me feeding her. But it's a start, anyway..... a messy start!

Toothless No More!! :)

Tory is changing, and growing . . . and coming into my favorite months (at least with my experience with other babies).... she scoots around the floor and squeals when I come to "get you". She smiles so big whenever I come get her from her nap, or off her highchair, or from her stroller . . . she claps her hands and bobs her head back and forth when there is music in the air . . .and on and on I could go. Her teeth are more visible now! :) Enjoy!

Clappin' and Bobbin'

I look up and suddenly, there is Tory UNDER the exosaucer thingy, trying to eat her fallen Cherrios!! It was hilarious seeing her try to get OUT from under there when she was done! :)

You know those songs you sang over and over and over again in Sunday School when you were little and you PROMISED yourself you'd never sing again? Well, I see WHY they teach them in Sunday School to little kids - THEY LOVE THEM! (They just don't know how many times they will be hearing it from now on!) Anyway, it is SO CUTE to see Tory clapping her hands and bobbing her head to a familiar tune (which in Spanish goes: "I will praise, I will praise, I will praise, I will praise . . . " you get the idea)

In bloom

I love spring! It is so beautiful! Tory is enjoying her tree as she discovers flowers. I am so excited the tree even bloomed this spring! We had a nice Easter . . . planting and weeding! Crazy, hu? We went to church first, then ate together, and as Tory took a two-hour nap, Edwin and I were out there, getting to know our neighbors a little and trying to sort out our many evergreens! "Look, Mom! No sleeves!" If you look closely at the close-up picture of Tory, smiling, you can see her two bottom teeth poking through! :)

Ah.... slumber

Okay, I have a few pictures of Tory sleeping (yeah, yeah, except for the one in her PJs... she's just about to go to bed, and looked so cute!) The thing is, Tory has a little thing she does now, when I lay her down in her crib, on her back. She turns on her tummy, and scoots around to face the oposite direction where her two dolls are. She also grabs the bumper and tries to look over it sometimes catching me looking at her. She is usually gurgling to herself, but sometimes she's crying too. When I come check on her about 10 min. later, she is usually asleep, head up against the bumper or laying on her doll, as you can see in the pictures. But one day, I found her as you can see in the last picture, still with her head up in her arm, asleep! :) Thankfully she had only been like that for about 5 min. and when I lay her on her back she stayed asleep! :)

Special Visit and Surprise Celebration

Well, I somehow lost my special effects, so I can't pick a font color, sorry.
I want to share a VERY special weekend.... :) First of all, my brother, Paul and his wife, Michele, visited us. They heard Tory's bottom teeth were popping up and they HAD to rush over from Seattle to see the little white stubbs poking through. :) And, as always, Michele used her photographic skills to take some very cute pictures and videos of Tory.... so there you are! :) I voice my sister, Lisa's, sentiment when she said her blog was really more Reagan's and so it is with our blog... now Tory's blog... :) hee, hee.
So, I was totally taken unawares yesterday.... Paul and Michele said they wanted to get me something for my 30th birthday so I asked for some plants to begin my garden and off we went. When we were done there, Paul says he would like to stop by Barnes and Noble to get a book... which was FINE with me to go to one of my favorite places to be... and off we went again. By the time we were done there, Tory was really tired and REALLY ready for her nap. So as soon as we got home, my goal was to get Tory to bed ASAP...Edwin offered to carry her in, and Paul offered to carry in all the plants. I walk into the living room and was heading for the hallway, bypassing the kitchen when all of the sudden out of the corner of my eye a see a HUGE BLUR of peole in the corner and at the same time they all yell, "SURPRISE!!" and I can honestly say I have NEVER been that surprised in all my life... I was honestly SCARED for my life and wanted to run and hide to get away.... and at the same time I realized what had happened and was extremely happy and grateful. It was also funny to hear the whole crowd of people immediately go from happy "SURPRISE!!" to a concerned, "OOhhh!!!" as Tory began to cry in reaction to my fright. So, Edwin and some special friends from church had, I guess, been planning this party for a couple weeks now. It was very special... I understood then, all the small Edwin quirks which I had just been dismissing... such as him making the bed and tidying up the house that morning, freeing up a huge space in the freezer (for the cake), going in late to "work" on Friday morning (uh.... actually going shopping for supplies for the party with a friend). THANK YOU to all of you who made my turning 30 a very FUN event.... :)
